How to Insert a Tagline in WordPress

Changing the Existing Tagline
1. Log in to your blog dashboard at http://yourblogdomain.com/wp-admin/.
2. Scroll down to the 'Settings' section of the left navigation bar, and click the heading to expand it.

3. Enter your tagline in the second box and click 'Save Changes.'
Using a Text Widget
4. Log in to your blog dashboard at http://yourblogdomain.com/wp-admin/.
5. Click the small arrow next to 'Appearance' in the left menu and select 'Widgets.' Click the small arrow next to 'Sidebar' on the right of the screen to expand it. If you have more than one sidebar, use the top one.
6. Click and hold the 'Text' bar under 'Available Widgets' and drag it into the 'Sidebar' area.
7. Type your tagline in the 'Title' area of the widget and click 'Save.'

8. Log in to your blog dashboard and click the small arrow next to 'Appearance' in the left menu. Click 'Editor.'
9. Click 'Header' in the right menu.
10. Enter the following code, without quotes, into the header.php file where you want the tagline to appear:'

11. Click 'Update File' to save your changes. Click the 'Settings' header in the left navigation menu to open 'General Settings.'
12. Type your tagline into the second text box and click 'Save Changes.'
