How to Upload a WordPress Blog on to My HostGator Account
Installing Wordpress on Your HostGator Account
1. Log in to your HostGator account. Locate and click the 'Fantastico de Luxe' icon on the bottom right of your HostGator account panel.
2. Navigate down the left navigation panel to the Blogs section and select 'Wordpress.' Click the 'New Installation' button in the main HostGator panel to begin the Wordpress installation process.
3. Select the domain on which you want to install your Wordpress blog from the 'Install onto Domain' drop-down list.
4. Enter a name into the Directory box if you intend to use your Wordpress blog as part of a larger website. If the blog is the main feature of your site, leave this box empty.
5. Complete the setup information form by entering your user data into the form. You will create a login account, list post authors and fill in blog information with this form. Click 'Install Wordpress' to install Wordpress onto your HostGator share.
Export your Old Blog Data
6. Log in to your old blog's Wordpress account. Navigate to your Wordpress dashboard.
7. Click 'Tools' in the Navigation menu and choose 'Export' from the Tools menu.
8. Select 'All content' to export your entire blog. Select 'Posts' to export only your blog entries or select 'Pages' to export your blog page structure and information. Click 'Download Export File' to save your exported blog to your computer.
Import your Old Blog Data
9. Navigate to your new Wordpress blog by entering the domain name where you installed Wordpress in Section 1. If you installed Wordpress to a directory, make sure to add the directory to the URL.
10. Log in to your new Wordpress blog using the login information you created in Step 5 of Section 1.
11. Select 'Tools' from the Navigation menu and choose 'Import' from the Tools menu.
12. Click 'WordPress' to upload the export file created in Section 2. Select the 'Export file' and click 'Upload' to being the migration.
13. Map authors from the old blog to the authors set up in Step 5 of Section 1. Once you have mapped all the authors from the old blog to your new blog, Wordpress will upload your blog data.
