How to Transfer WordPress to New Domain Using FileZilla
1. Open FileZilla and connect to your old site. Type in the FTP host, usern ame and Password in the fields at the top, and click on 'Quickconnect' to establish a connection.
2. Create a new folder on your local computer by right-clicking on the left window on FileZilla and selecting 'Create Directory.'
3. Copy all the content of your WordPress site to the new folder. Select all files and folders on the right window of FileZilla which shows all files on your site server, then drag them over to the left window, where it lists the content of the new folder on your computer. Wait until all files are copied.
4. Select 'Server' from the top menu and then 'Disconnect.'
5. Open a browser and log on to the Control Panel of your old Web host.
6. Click the link for 'phpMyAdmin,' then select the WordPress database. Click on 'Export' and 'Go,' to download an SQL file of your database. If you are unsure of where to find this, contact your host provider.
7. Open the SQL file in Notepad. Using the Find and Replace tool, replace all instances of your old domain to the new domain.
8. Open a window on your browser and log on to the control panel of your new domain. Create a new database user and a new database for your WordPress site.
9. Go to the phpMyAdmin of your new domain. Select the WordPress database you created and click on 'SQL.' Copy all the text in the SQL file you edited earlier and paste it in the text box for 'Run SQL query/queries on server.' Click 'Go.' All tables and data from your old database is now populated in the new database.
10. Go to the folder where you uploaded all your WordPress site files in your computer. Open the 'wp-config.php' file in Notepad. Replace the domain, database name, user name, password and host information to the new information of your new domain. Save the file.
11. Go back to FileZilla and connect to your new domain by entering the FTP host, user name and password of your new host and clicking on 'Quickconnect.'
12. Select all the files on the left window and drag them to the right window to copy over all the files of your WordPress site from your computer to the new domain. Wait until all files are uploaded.
13. Go to your new domain and view your WordPress site to make sure everything is as it should be.
