How to Set Up WordPress AWS C2
1. Sign up for an account with AWS. You need a valid email address, a valid phone number and a valid credit card number for the sign-up process.
2. Access the Amazon EC2 Management Console. Look in the upper left corner of the page where it says 'Navigation' and make sure that your region is set to 'US West.' This is importance because the Microsoft Web Platform images are only currently available in the Western US region.
3. Set up the firewall rules by selecting the item marked 'Security Groups' in the left-hand sidebar. The Security Groups will open in the center pane. Click 'Create Security Group' near the top.
4. Name the new group in the box provided and click 'Create.'
5. Click the 'Instances' menu found in the left-hand sidebar and click 'Launch Instance' to launch an EC2 DotNetNuke instance. Select 'Community Images' in the box that opens. Press 'Select' in the row that says 'Microsoft Web Platform -- WordPress...'
6. Click the button that says 'Continue.' You should be taken to a page where you can create your key pair. Type in the key if you have one already or create a new one by entering a name for the key and then click 'Create Download Key Pair.'
7. Click 'Continue' to move on to the launch page. You should be taken back to the main page of the AWS Management Console. Click on 'Instances' and then right-click on the Instances row to select 'Get Widows Password.'
8. Click on 'Download shortcut file' in the box that follows the previous step and right-click on the file to select 'Open.' This will establish the connection so you can log onto the remote machine. The login menu will launch automatically for WordPress installation with the Web Platform Installer.
9. Click on 'Install' at the bottom of the screen. Type in your desired MySQL password on the next page and answer the additional questions with regards to your installation preferences on the following pages.
10. Enter the MySQL password you chose in the previous when you get to 'Step 2 of 2: Enter application information' on the installation launcher. This will be used to create the WordPress database. Enter your username and other details as desired.
11. Click 'Launch WordPress' on the final installation page to finish the installation process. You will see a message on the next page that should say 'Congratulations! You have successfully installed the following products: Launch WordPress.'
