How to Install WordPress on a Pair.com Account
1. Download the WordPress blog software. WordPress regularly publishes new releases of their blog software and the newest release can be found on the WordPress website.
2. Unzip the WordPress file. Locate the wp-config-sample.php file and rename it to wp-config.php. Open this file in Notepad or another text editor.
3. Log in to your Pair Networks account to create a new database for your WordPress installation. After logging in, click on “Advanced Features” and then click the “Database Administration” option.
4. Click the “Create New Database” button and give your new database a name. It is best to choose a name that will be easily identifiable if you plan to have multiple databases. After entering a name, click on the “Add Database” button. You will be brought to the New Database Details screen.
5. Enter the name of your newly created database in the 'DB_NAME' section of the wp-config.php file that you have opened in your text editor. Ensure that your database name exactly matches the one that is listed on the New Database Details screen.
6. Type the name of the database user and database password provided on the details screen into the corresponding sections of the wp-config.php file. Enter the name of the database server listed on the New Database Details screen into the 'DB_HOST' section of the wp-config.php file. Verify that the database name, database username, database password and database server are all listed correctly in the WordPress configuration PHP file. Save this file and exit your text editor.
7. Connect to your web server via FTP and upload all of the WordPress files, including the wp-config.php to the desired location on your Pair.com account.
8. Start the WordPress installation PHP script by pointing your web browser to your domain followed by /wp-admin/install.php. Follow the on-screen prompts and the WordPress installation on your Pair.com account will be complete.
